Agutayan Island

AGUTAYAN ISLAND: MISAMIS ORIENTAL BUDGET WEEKEND GETAWAY

Agutayan Island is one of those places I’ve always wanted to explore here in Misamis Oriental. They say it is pretty much like Camiguin’s white island, only smaller, and nearer if you’re coming from Cagayan de Oro City. So after being so cold at the farm (our farm is on top of a mountain where fog reigns in the afternoon and the cold air is much much colder than our air conditioner at home — I wear 3 layers of clothes when I’m there), it is expected that I will be missing the beach soon and craving for the heat of the scorching sun. And the perfect place to get that? Agutayan Island!

But before that, let me tell you that I’m now on the 29th day of my very own self-imposed 30-day blog post challenge which also propelled me to restart doing other things I love and one of them is blogging about my travels! It’s actually the primary reason why I started blogging in 2000 in Geocities so I could document all of the travels I was doing. Then eventually, most of my travel posts went to my Sexy Nomad blog. And now, little by little, here in Momtraneur.

Sagpulon Falls: Explore Misamis Oriental on a Budget

Sagpulon Falls is love when you get to explore it here in Misamis Oriental!!! But before that, let me tell you that I’m now on the 20th day of my very own self-imposed 30-day blog post challenge which also propelled me to restart doing other things I love and one of them is blogging about my travels! It’s actually the primary reason why I started blogging in 2000 in Geocities so I could document all of the travels I was doing. Then eventually, most of my travel posts went to my Sexy Nomad blog. And now, hopefully, here in Momtraneur.

You see, I travel locally most of the time that I couldn’t catch up with writing them all down as blog posts. Travel writing just takes so much time which is something I don’t really have given everything I’m doing! Perhaps, now that I’m getting into the habit of blogging every day about all kinds of stuff I’m interested in, I will eventually be able to post all of my travels in one way or another, including old ones. This is after all, first and foremost, my online diary. Teehee.

Okay, now, off to Sagpulon Falls…

Licealiz battles head lice infestation in Mindanao with Kilusang Kontra Kuto

About one-third of elementary public school students in the Philippines suffer from head lice-related problems. Head lice infestation or pediculosis can cause severe itchiness and infection of the scalp, but this could be the least of these children’s worries; the social stigma associated with having kuto can leave lasting psychological damage on both children and their parents.

A survey of communities visited by the Licealiz caravan last year found that 47% of respondents from Visayas and 76% of respondents from Mindanao said that their children were bullied and teased for having head lice, causing some of them to miss school to avoid their peers. The parents, on the other hand, feel incompetent and embarrassed for being unable to prevent head lice from infesting their children. Continue reading
