Christmas Giveaway

TUSCANY HIGHLANDS MUSIGA AND MUSHROOM POLVORON 2ND ANNIVERSARY and EARLY CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY!!!

Hello September!

At last, the Ber months are here — my favorite last few months of the year because it means that Christmas is just around the corner, Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas in Our Hearts has started playing in the radio again, and of course, my most favorite holiday, Halloween, is happening before all the pre-Christmas and New Year hullabaloo! In short, I’m just in a very festive mood! Weeeee!!!

A huge part of this joy I’m feeling right now is the realization that I really am blessed despite all the seemingly stressful dramas I indulge myself in from time to time (lol). I am officially and legally single, I am loved, I have my babies with me, we are healthy, Mahal and I are growing our businesses and life together, and it’s all great!

And because of these blessings and the overwhelming gratitude I am feeling towards God and our life in general, I am also inspired to give back. We don’t have many material things as we have been living sort of a semi-minimalist lifestyle since I exchanged my big Alabang townhouse lifestyle to tiny pad living in Cagayan de Oro City, but we can definitely give some things to people, albeit strangers, we consider important to us, and these “some things” are no other than our farm products, for our precious target market, the very people we would like to keep serving through our organic mushroom food product offerings.

Musiga

Musiga (Mushroom Sili Garlic Paste) by Tuscany Highlands – Participating at CDO’s La Fiesta Grande Bazaar in Ayala Centrio

Since we got back from our very long road trip, it’s just been work, work, work! Aside from taking care of all my client tasks, Mahal and I have also been busy getting ready for this weekend’s bazaar in Cagayan de Oro — La Fiesta Grande Bazaar to be held at Ayala Centrio Mall in the downtown area. The bazaar will be from August 23, Friday, until August 25, Sunday.

MUSIGA HISTORY

We’ve joined a bazaar before when we first launched our Mushroom Chili Paste and just focused on online selling and consignments after that (see post here: https://momtraneur.com/2018/05/13/tuscany-highlands-organic-farm-mushroom-chili-paste-how-it-came-to-be/)

We received 100% positive reviews from our customers in terms of the taste, but a few suggested that maybe we can improve on our label. Our very first label looked like this:

How to grow Cantaloupe or Melon from seeds

How to Grow Cantaloupe or Melon from Seeds

Let me give you a little background about what Cantaloupe is because when I was doing my research, I used the term “Melon” and it brought me to pages and pages of watermelon instructions. That’s when I found out that what we know as “Melon” here in the Philippines is more properly called Cantaloupe in general.  Here’s what a Cantaloupe is according to Wikipedia:

The cantaloupe, rockmelon, sweet melon, or spanspek is a melon that is a variety of the muskmelon species from the Cucurbitaceae family. Cantaloupes range in weight from 0.5 to 5 kilograms. Wikipedia

Scientific nameCucumis melo var. cantalupensis

Farm Life Update – Another Peek Into What It’s Like Living in a Farm

Hello everyone! We arrived safely at the farm around 4:30AM EST (which is 4:30 PM Philippine time.) I was sleeping for most of the 2-hour ride because I haven’t had any decent sleep the previous night. I woke up about 15 minutes away from the farmhouse because Mahal was complaining that he couldn’t see a thing while driving. When I opened my eyes, everything around us was color white! It was so creepy! I was jolted out of slumber and I told mahal to stop the car! We don’t want to hit any cow or anything that might be on the way. The fog was so thick it felt like being in a dream… or a nightmare. Remember that alien movie with the thick fog… THE MIST? It felt like that! Lol!

Mahal kept driving, albeit slowly, so we can get to the part where the fog wasn’t so thick anymore… I took a few pictures around and noticed that my phone had LTE signal so I immediately shared it to my Facebook. A few meters after that, my LTE signal was gone.

LIVING UNDER THE PROVERBIAL TUSCAN SUN

I’ve been wanting to watch (for the nth time) one of my most favorite movies of all time — UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN — for several days now as a prelude to a perfect weekend I expect to have with my family at the farm. I’ve been so busy with work (and blogging… ha!) that I haven’t found the time until a few hours ago when Mahal arrived from his DTI class and we decided to watch it together.

When I first watched it almost 16 years ago in 2003, I felt like I have already resonated with this movie on so many different levels even if the particulars were still unbeknownst to me at that time.

Years passed and I’d still watch it when I feel sad; when I feel inspired; when I want to be inspired; when I feel happy… basically no matter what my mood is. I just tear up with this movie no matter how many times I’ve already watched it and it always makes me feel like everything is alright with the world after indulging myself with its heartwarming story.

Fast forward to 10 years after that movie was first shown (2013), my first marriage crumbled to pieces… Continue reading

Finding Calm in the Midst of a Storm – How Do You Calm Your Nerves in the Middle of Chaos?

I’m in the middle of a tight deadline today so I’m going to make this blog post short. Mahal is at the farm since Friday evening. It was actually an emergency run because… remember the new motorcycle I told you about in yesterday’s blog post? The brand new one we bought in cash for our farm helpers so they can have transportation to use for mushroom delivery instead of renting someone else’s motorcycle (which we have been doing for a long time now)… yes that motorcycle! Did our farm helper steal it???!!!

Hello July 1! Leaving the Good and Bad This Past 6 Months and Looking Forward to An Exciting Second Half of 2019

It’s July 1 and I can feel it! I’ve been working my ass off (pardon the term) since I woke up at 1am EST (it’s now 12:32 PM EST) and I still have lots of client tasks to finish. But before I forget, I need to blog. I said I will blog every day and so just like any committed human being, I am showing up here on my blog and writing down my thoughts.

Again, it’s July 1 and I can really, REALLY feel that the first half of the year is over! So many things have happened, both good and bad but I sometimes do feel that the bad outweighed the good ones because of the magnitude of emotions that came with it. I don’t like to dwell on these things much, but it’s also good to not forget them because they did come with lessons learned.

So before I resume with my VERY busy MomTraNeur life, let me just jot down below what those things are so I can finally let them go:

#MyGreenCDO – In Support of CDO Bloggers 2019 Social Media Advocacy

This will be a very short and sweet blog post as I am running a little fever today. I guess all those sleepless nights have caught up with my poor human body and realized that I am not a robot, that I get drained too. I actually should be resting right now. I really did go to bed 4 hours ago after sending an email to my client saying I’m sick because I was already shivering. I was so looking forward to slumber and waking up feeling all better and refreshed because I got a ton of work to do but our 3-year-old kept rolling all over me urging me to play with him. I, of course, reprimanded him, several times, to no avail. I didn’t want to be stressed further and I didn’t want my toddler to get sick too so I got up, sat here in my little office where he usually leaves me in peace when he knows I’m on work mode. I turned my Kenko back massager on and was planning to sleep upright but then I couldn’t sleep. You know that feeling when you’re so very tired, your bones feel like they’re shaking from overfatigue but you could not sleep? It’s such a bummer! So I thought I might as well do something a little productive. I did promise myself that day I ranted about being a sleep-deprived mom that I’ll blog every day no matter how short. This is after all my online diary and more than a blogger, I am a diarist.

So having said that, I just want to share here with you the CDO Bloggers Group’s latest social media advocacy for 2019 — #MyGreenCDO, which I am really happy and excited about! Continue reading
