It’s Tuz’s 2nd birthday yesterday late evening, Nov. 17, at exactly 11:47 PM. I can still remember all the pain I went through when I was induced starting at 7AM 2 years ago, only to get an emergency C-section late that evening. Was it worth it? Definitely! Despite the fact that Tuz is now in the terrible twos stage and all my patience is running dry, having a child of my own with my very best friend in the whole universe is still the best thing that ever happened to me and I thank God each second of my life for it. ❤
We have nothing planned on the day of his birthday (yesterday) because the mountain resort we wanted to check in at here in Cagayan de Oro (Ultra Winds Mountain Resort ) was fully booked yesterday and the reservation we got was for today (Saturday 2 PM) until tomorrow (Sunday 12 NN). In the meantime, I’m going to blog about our only son’s very first birthday which we celebrated last year by staying for a night in Acuaverde Resort in Laiya, Batangas.
I’ve been hearing about Acuaverde since before but it was only last November that we got to check-in and experience it for ourselves.
ACUAVERDE RATE PER NIGHT
We booked via Agoda and it cost us P7,067.65. It’s quite pricey for an overnight stay but we wanted to experience what the fuss was all about and we were about to find out.
ACUAVERDE ROOM
So this was our room. We booked the Casa Montana Queen. It has a queen-sized bed, air conditioning, small cabinet, bar set with water heater for boiling drinking water, balcony with coffee table and chairs, hot & cold shower and LED TV with cable. They have Wi-Fi but it wasn’t strong enough so I ended up using my own internet connection to finish some work.
I requested a crib later that day and they delivered it to our room. How wonderful!
Last year, our body clock was still permanently on US Time Zone. We were all zombified when these photos were taken so after checking in, we slept. Actually, they slept part of the afternoon while I got some work done.
ACUAVERDE BUFFET MEALS
Our check-in time was 2PM. So the first “FREE” buffet meal we had was dinner. The following day, we had breakfast. Then before we checked out, we had lunch.
Acuaverde Dinner Buffet
Acuaverde Breakfast Buffet
Acuaverde Lunch Buffet
This is most probably why our overnight stay was priced at P7K because of all their food offerings included in the booking. All those meals were buffet style and from what I remember, we really ate everything they offered! *burp!* The food was really delish and all their staff was very attentive, approachable and accommodating.
ACUAVERDE BIRTHDAY CAKE AND BALLOON
We brought with us the birthday cake we ordered from Cakes by Miriam and had it stored in the fridge by their staff.
This means the staff found out we were celebrating our baby’s very first birthday there and come dinner time, they surprised us with a big slice of moist chocolate cake with a Happy Birthday greeting.
They also gave him a blue birthday balloon! Tuz was so happy! And we were really touched.
Now I get where the pricey overnight stay comes from. Though the room just looks okay by our standards, the buffet selection was superb and they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. And in my book, that is priceless.
ACUAVERDE BEACH AND FACILITIES
We got there early so we were able to explore the resort and enjoy some of its amenities.
LAIYA BEACH
Laiya beach has the best beach in that area while the rest of other well-known Batangas beaches have grey sand and some are quite rocky and pebbly. Here in Laiya, sand is quite beige or light grey and a bit fine. The water is also clear so we enjoyed our time until after sunset… as well as the next morning…
We frolicked and enjoyed the rest of the resort and other nearby beaches until it was time to say bye-bye.
We’re the introvert beach types and in our book, this is one of the best ways to celebrate Tuz’s birthday… just us three somewhere nice. We’ll probably be doing this every year on Tuz’s birthday wherever destiny might bring us. How about you? How do you celebrate your children’s birthdays? 😉
Thanks for dropping by and taking a peek at our life. Til my next post. 🙂

This is the most helpful review I have seen regarding acuaverde! You answered every question I had in mind, with your detailed review! I plan to spend my 40th birthday there, like your son. 😄Acuaverde is not answering my messages so I had to search the Internet, and it was tedious going through selfies and useless emotional reviews without details. THANK YOU MOMTRANEUR!
