The last time we traveled was back in July and August when we did a road trip of Bukidnon, Davao, Camiguin and Cagayan de Oro City. I’ve been wanting to travel again to celebrate our 49th monthsary last September 15, to celebrate our first year of stay in Mindanao as well as our first year of farm life, and just to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of our farm life (yes, farming, just like any kind of work, can be daunting, more so than office work because there’s always physical effort involved). So I’ve been ranting to Mahal how stressed I’ve been about everything, how I’ve been having a hard time adjusting to our farm life sometimes and I just want to relax and have a few moments to enjoy myself.
Then an opportunity presented itself after we hired our new farm helper. His name is Joshua. He mentioned that he has contacts in Dipolog who buy wholesale chili peppers. We can try to set up a meeting with them and see if we can supply them with chili. He has also been homesick after leaving his family behind so we decided to get his wife, his newborn baby, his two toddlers and younger nephew so they can all live with us at the farm, we can have more help and Joshua would be more inspired to work with us. And since we were already there, why not make the most of it?
We were supposed to stay in Dakak which is just an hour away from Dipolog, but since they were fully booked on the days we were going, we found an alternative resort we can stay – The Royal Farm Resort in Gulayon, Dipolog. I booked it in Agoda for only P1145 per night!
According to Agoda & Booking, Royal Farm Resort has the best value for money in terms of accommodation. Since all the dates of Dakak (our original plan) were fully booked, we opted to stay within the city of our business meetings. True enough, at P1145 per night, we got this nice, simple, clean, super cold room. I love it that it has a table (where I can work) and 3 chairs, vanity with mirror, open cabinets with hangers and lots of electrical outlets. There’s strong wifi, TV and Tuz also gets to have his own bed. All fleece blankets are warm. Water pressure in the bathroom is strong and there’s hot shower available. Drinking water dispenser is available 24/7 and their resort has 4 large swimming areas, water park for kids and lots of cabanas and cottages. Food is really good and affordable too!
HOW TO GET TO ROYAL FARM RESORT
By Plane
If you’re coming from Manila, fly to Dipolog City.
Located in Dipolog, Royal Farm Resort is an easy drive from Magsaysay Park and Ilihan Hill. You can take a cab. Dipolog Airport is a 10-minute drive from Royal Farm Resort.
By Car
We were coming from Cagayan de Oro city so Mahal drove us there. It was a 6+-hour drive.
We passed by Iligan City all the way to Mucas Port. There, we rode a roro going to Ozamiz City Port for P460.00 (inclusive of the car and driver) and additional P40 for each passenger.
From Ozamiz City Port, we went all the way to Dipolog passing by Tangub City and just following the Mindanao-Polanco highway. We used Waze to make sure we got the best route.
THINGS to DO AT ROYAL FARM RESORT
Eat!
Upon arrival, we immediately checked in. They allow early check-in for guests as long as the room is available. Then we ordered lunch. The price of their dishes range from P70 to P240 pesos and good for 2-3 persons… very affordable and yummy too! So every chance we get, we ordered food. Teehee.
Swim & DO WATER PARK ACTIVITIES!
Royal Farm Resort provides 28 air-conditioned rooms and 4 types of swimming pools including a waterpark for kids. Even if their rooms are very simple, they overcompensated by building really nice swimming areas and facilities.
Do watch this video I made showcasing the swimming pool facilities of Royal Farm Resort:
RELAX!
Half the time, when Mahal was out on a business meeting and Tuz was asleep, I’d just either work or sleep. The room that we got (Room 23) has strong air conditioning very conducive for slumber. Zzzzzzz…
So that’s it for our Royal Farm Resort visit. I hope you enjoyed my post. Til my next budget travel adventure!
