It was around Valentine’s last year when we went to the Balloon Fiesta at Clarkfield, Pampanga and checked in at Best Western Plus Subic Hotel on our first night. This hotel is quite pricey compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at.So it’s a good thing that we got a 50% discount via Agoda and it already included a breakfast buffet. Perfect! If you’re planning to go to the balloon fiesta this year, you can check my Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2017 Guide first. If you’re traveling with an infant, don’t fret. It’s easy. Just check my How to Travel with a Baby guide.
So anyway, it’s my second time to experience checking in at a Best Western Hotel. The first time was in 2013 when I went to Bangkok, Thailand with friends and I can say that though that particular Best Western hotel branch one was a lot bigger (it was in Thailand after all! and I will blog about that sometime soon), it had the same kind of chic ambiance…

My room in Best Western Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand
We got to Best Western Plus Subic Hotel just in time for our check-in time. Mahal and baby Tuz sat at the lounge while I went to the reception and gave our Agoda print out. It didn’t take long before a bellboy came and helped us with our bag. When we got inside the room, I checked the toilet coz I always want to make sure that there’s plenty of water pressure and there won’t be any problems with flushing since we expect to do a lot of food tripping in Subic as well, hehehe. As it turned out, there was a bit of a problem with the toilet and there was a smell I couldn’t place so we requested for a room transfer which they did.
We got transferred to a room which is similar to the previous one and there, we didn’t encounter any problems anymore. Yey!

Best Western Plus Subic Hotel Standard Room Bathroom
WHAT’S THEIR ROOM LIKE?
It’s a basic standard room with a queen-sized bed enough for us three.
The bed was really comfortable… just enough softness and fluffiness which I liked a lot. Baby Tuz and I had so much fun bonding there when he was awake that we took a lot of selfies. Hehehe.
The room a wall-mounted LCD TV, a big cabinet that can fit all our stuff, lamps, bedside table, desk and chair, a nice modern bathroom with proper amenities. It’s an excellent 3 or 4-star hotel if I may say so.

Best Western Plus Subic Hotel
WHAT’S THEIR SWIMMING AREA LIKE?
The swimming pool area is not that big but just enough to enjoy it with your family. And should there be other people there too, it’s still okay.

Swimming Pool Area, Best Western Plus Subic Hotel
The swimming pool is a three-tier kind, the first of which is a small jacuzzi, the second has an infinity pool effect and the third below is just a small normal pool, probably for kids.
The view is amazing especially at dusk because it’s facing west, hence you can see the sun setting behind a mountain by the ocean across the pink horizon. It’s just so beautiful and romantic!
We spent some time there just basking under what’s left of the sun, enjoying the pleasant view as the cold breeze was lightly blowing. Ahhhhh… crest la vie!
There are lounging chairs surrounding the pool area so you can lie there and sleep if you want to. Hehe. There are also tables and chairs which at that time, the staff was fixing and turning into a romantic dinner table setup for couples.
We were at the swimming pool area from late afternoon til evening. Then the following day after sunrise, I went back and spent a few more moments enjoying the swimming pool and lounging on the chairs.
Check-out time was noon so as Mahal and baby Tuz were sleeping, I made the most of my alone time.

HOW’S THEIR BUFFET?
It was scrumptious with enough number of choices to choose from! It was really “sulit”!

Breakfast Buffet, Best Western Plus Subic Hotel
We had the following:
– colorful cereals with milk
– brewed coffee with cream and sugar
– orange juice with ice cubes
– assorted fruits
– bread, butter and jam
– fried daing na bangus with rice, atchara and tomato
– fried tapa with rice, atchara and tomato
– two eggs, both scrambled
– vegetable salad
We really enjoyed it!
MY VERDICT
I’d give this hotel a 7/10. So in case you’re thinking of heading to Subic, especially this weekend for the 2017 Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, you might want to consider checking in at Best Western Plus Subic Hotel. It’s around P6,000++ per night without discount. So get an Agoda account, log in there and hopefully you get to have a discounted and superb stay as well.
Happy hotel stay!
I love the view from the pool which also looks like an infinity pool crossing over the ocean. Best western definitely have excellent facilities.

Thanks for this recommendation for a hotel in Subic. Best Western is usually a good hotel. I thought it was budget, but the price seems high. I will have to check promos online, I guess.

Yes, they’re quite pricey. Agoda usually gives promos. You can check out another hotel with a bigger room but super affordable – https://momtraneur.com/2017/02/21/horizon-hotel-subic-review/

Your baby is adorable especially at the collaged picture of you and your baby. It seems like he was making cute expressions through his eyes. The lounging area beside the pool would probably my favorite place.

I am not really familiar when usually the Hot Air Balloon festival falls but I have heard about its feast every year. I haven’t been in northern part of the country but if ever, I’ll surely consider this hotel one day.
